Vishu Celebrations at Mari State University!

Vishu 2025 at Mari State University was a heartwarming celebration of tradition, unity, and cultural pride. Hosted by Indian students from Kerala, the event brought together the vibrant spirit of the Vishu festival right in the heart of Yoshkar-Ola, Russia. With the university’s support, the campus turned into a cultural hub where Indian traditions were honored with color, joy, and authenticity.

The day began with a beautiful display of the traditional ‘Vishukkani’—a sacred arrangement of auspicious items like rice, fruits, lamps, and golden flowers, symbolizing prosperity and good beginnings. Dressed in elegant Kerala attire—kasavu sarees and mundus—the students created an atmosphere that felt just like home.

The celebrations included classical and folk dance performances, traditional music, and heartfelt speeches that highlighted the importance of preserving one’s roots while studying abroad. The highlight of the event was the special Vishu Sadya (feast), a delicious assortment of traditional Malayali dishes prepared by the students themselves.

Faculty members, international peers, administrative team and students at MarSU joined the celebration, expressing admiration for India’s rich heritage. The Vishu celebration was not just a festival—it was a beautiful reminder of how culture connects hearts across continents.

Mari State University proudly stands with its Indian students in celebrating every tradition with respect and joy.
